Introduction

    The Group of Bioinformatics, led by Prof. Dr. Ming Chen, aims at the research and development Bioinformatics for applications in dataset from plant science and biomedical experiments. In our research we focus not only on the implementation of new and innovative algorithms but also on ways how to facilitate bioinformatics analysis for laboratories. The group is associated with the State Key Laboratory of Plant Physiology and Biochemistry (within the College of Life Sciences), the First Affiliated Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine, and James D. Watson Institute of Genome Sciences at Zhejiang University. It has also funded collaborative ties to other international institutes, such as University Bielefeld's Bioinformatics Department, Germany; Institute of Plant Genetics and Crop Plant Research (IPK), Germany; the Departments of Mathematical Sciences & Biological Sciences, University of Essex, UK; Institute of Cytology and Genetics SB RAS and Novosibirsk State University, Russia; Department of Molecular and Cell Biology, University of Cape Town, South Africa; Faculty of Information and Communication Technologies, St. Kliment Ohridski University - Bitola, Macedonia; and the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (CIGB), Cuba.
